Milanos

El último fin de semana, estando de excursión cerca de Jaca, vimos dos aves rapaces peleándose en el cielo. Pensé que eran dos milanos reales (más abundantes aquí) pero luego, al tratar y mirar las fotos, me di cuenta que en realidad se trataba de uno real y un milano negro. La identificación de los milanos puede ser difícil pero en este caso logré dos fotografías con las dos especies en la misma foto que permite distinguir claramente los diferentes rasgos: el tamaño inferior, los colores más oscuros y la cola menos ahorquillada del negro en comparación con el real.

Last weekend on a hiking trip close to Jaca we saw two birds of prey chasing each other in the sky. I first thought they were two red kites (more frequently seen here), but when looking at the pictures I recognized that it was a black and a red kite. Their identification can be tricky but I could take a few pictures of both species that allow to clearly distinguish the most important features: The smaller size, the darker colors and the less forked tail of the black kite in comparison to the red kite.
